Jon Kovach Jr.


Jon Kovach Jr. is an award-winning, public relations strategist, social innovator, entrepreneur and a traveling public speaker.  Jon creates innovative and strategic communication plans for people and organizations, develops problem-solving strategies and helps businesses find their “why”. Jon speaks on a number of topics including professional development, masterminds, mentorship, entrepreneurship, storytelling, brand management, seeking clarity and direction and overcoming obstacles through goal setting. Jon has spoke to hundreds of high school and college students on numerous career paths and has shown them how understanding business essentials in every industry leads to self-fulfillment, self-mastery and personal achievement.

In 2016–2017, Jon was the vice president of member services of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), an organization of 11,000+ student professionals in 300+ qualified universities throughout the U.S., Columbia, Argentina and Peru. Jon graduated cum laude in communication and public relations with a minor in business management at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. Before transferring to UVU, Jon obtained his associate degree in business with an associate certificate in accounting at the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.

Jon joined UVU’s PRSSA Chapter his sophomore year and was elected vice president of special events. In this role, Jon shattered UVU PRSSA event attendance records, averaging over 100 participants per monthly event. As the vice president of member services, Jon enhanced the high school and community college outreach programs by speaking to 100+ high school students across the country. He also improved the organization’s awareness by creating a recruiting video as well as elevated the customer service platform by answering over 1,000 emails in just one term.

Jon has taken top honors representing UVU in national competitions, conferences, and assemblies. Jon received the award for UVU PRSSA’s PR All-Star in 2017, UVU PRSSA’s Outstanding Public Relations Student of the Year in 2016 and Inspiring Newcomer in 2015. He was recognized as UVU’s Student of the Year runner-up in 2017. He has worked with online outdoor gear retailer, Cotopaxi, and commercial real estate firm Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors (CBC Advisors) as a public relations intern in Salt Lake City. He also interned with Spectrum Science Communications, Inc. in Washington, D.C. Jon is a distinguished Tagalog (Filipino) speaker, teacher and writer and has an exceptional background in developing materials used to teach and speak the language to multiple cultures. Jon currently works in public relations and communications at CBC Advisors and manages the PR initiatives for over 30 offices and 500+ professionals coast to coast.

Jon credits Stephen Whyte, UVU PRSSA’s Faculty Adviser, as one of his mentors who helped him launch his professional career. Jon has worked with UVU’s Student Association as a social media manager and Wolverine PR, UVU’s student-run public relations firm, as the student-firm director and as an associate staff.

Jon is passionate about professional development and seeks to help anyone realize their greatest potential in today’s workforce. He is an advocate for everything surrounding the discussions of public relations, leadership, and self-mastery.
